Homemade Electrolyte Drink Recipe with Goji
Electrolytes are important for everyone. Especially in extreme weather or after sweating a lot, our bodies need extra help with hydration!
What is an electrolyte drink?
Why Add Goji?
This drink contains electrolytes to balance salts lost with sweating and an herb that nourishes Blood and Yin.
Herbs in Chinese Medicine are dried plants, fruits, mushrooms and other dried goods offering a variety of energetically nourishing, clearing, cooling, warming or balancing properties.
Electrolytes are minerals and play an important role in muscle function, blood pressure and heart function. After long periods of activity, sweating or illness we lose electrolytes. Water helps to re-hydrate but it can’t replace electrolytes so after sweating we need extra help to come back to balance.
Combining the two will make your homemade electrolyte drink super yummy and effective at restoring your vitality and physiological functions.
How do Herbs and Electrolytes work?
Drinking herbs and minerals can:
Nourish your Yin and Blood to help keep cool in heatwave or high energy events
Help muscles contract (heart muscle included) to keep your body strong
Support nervous system so your brain and body stay in communication
Anchor your Mind/Shen (Heart Spirit) so you can feel less overwhelmed by the heat
When the heat is high, or you sweat a lot, we have to replace water and electrolytes otherwise we can end up with muscle cramps, headaches, dizziness and fatigue.
