Healing with Toronto Acupuncturist Lamia

  • What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional medicine based on the understanding that the healthy function of the body relies on the smooth flow of qi — often translated as “energy” — through a network of channels under the skin. When this flow is disrupted, whether by emotional stress, physical injury, poor diet, or overwork, symptoms and illness can arise.

By inserting fine needles at specific points along these channels, acupuncture helps restore the flow of qi, bringing the body back into balance and activating its natural healing processes.

I practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture, which treats the root of an issue and supports the whole person — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Acupuncture can stand alone or work alongside other treatments. I often collaborate with other health practitioners and welcome lab results or scans to support a more integrated approach to care.

Modern research shows how acupuncture influences the nervous system, boosts circulation, supports immunity, and helps regulate the body’s stress response — offering a bridge between traditional wisdom and modern healing.

  • What we see in the clinic

From fertility issues to menstrual pain, from insomnia to digestive disorders, there are a great number of conditions that acupuncture can support. I have practiced in community all these years and am honoured to have worked with a wide array of people dealing with a whole host of different ailments, struggles and stressors.

    Some of these include:

    · Acupuncture for Fertility

    · Acupuncture for Anxiety / Stress

    · Acupuncture for Sciatica

    · Acupuncture to Induce Labour

    · Acupuncture for Plantar Fasciitis

    · Acupuncture for Insomnia / Night sweats

What should I expect?

We’ll start with a conversation—about your health history, what’s going on for you now, and what kind of support you’re looking for. I’ll ask about body, mind, and lifestyle to get the clearest picture possible of what’s affecting your health. My goal is to listen deeply, find the root of what’s happening, and offer treatment that’s responsive to you — the symptoms wanting care and the human you are in the life you live with the Land where you are located.

In a typical treatment, I’ll place a handful of ultra-fine needles at carefully chosen points. You’ll rest with them in place for about 15–20 minutes while your system does what it does best: find its way back to balance.

Does it really work?

Yes—acupuncture has been used for thousands of years and is recognized by the World Health Organization as effective for over 100 conditions. The most convincing evidence I have is in the people I work with—how their pain eases, their sleep deepens, their digestion steadies, their moods shift. I’ve seen it again and again and again.

Every body is different, and healing is rarely linear — so we’ll track your progress together and adjust treatment as needed.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel very little when the needles go in—some describe a dull heaviness, tingling, or a moment of sensation that fades quickly. The needles I use are very fine and high quality. You might feel deeply relaxed, sleepy, or calm during and after a session.

I always check in to make sure you're comfortable. If anything feels off, we adjust.

How do I prepare for a treatment?

If it’s your first visit, bring anything you think might help paint the picture—test results, diagnoses, or notes from other providers. I often collaborate with other health professionals to make sure your care is connected and clear.

If you can, wear loose comfy clothes and give yourself a bit of time before and after your session. Try not to come on a completely empty stomach—or right after a heavy meal. Mostly, come as you are.
