ACUPUNCTURE & PREGNANCY

IN-PERSON ONLY

Acupuncture can be used to assist with a range of pregnancy related conditions, offering pregnant people an alternative to taking medication. Acupuncture may also be used for the discomfort often regarded as part of a ‘normal’ pregnancy that just has to be endured. Acupuncture use in pregnancy is widespread in certain countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand, where midwives undertake specialized acupuncture training.

TYPE OF CARE

 PRE 40 WEEKS

Preparation for Labour and birth

Acupuncture can help prepare a person’s body for labour and birth and at any point weekly treatments can help with pregnancy discomforts or concerns.

At 36 weeks we begin using points that help by:

  • Supporting optimal baby positioning for labour

  • Assist in cervical ripening

  • Promoting optimal energy and stamina for the birthing person

These treatments can be Community Acupuncture or Private Acupuncture follow up.

POST 40 WEEKS

Labour Induction

At the 40 week mark we can use Acupuncture to induce Labour.  Labour Induction works best with 3 treatments / week spaced about 48 hours a part.  We need time, space and privacy to ensure your comfort and for high effectiveness.  For this reason, Labour induction sessions are always individual and are 60 min in length.  If this is your first treatment, please choose the Standard Initial Acupuncture 75 min option.
